Golden Monkey is a Chinese restaurant in Sanur on the ground floor of ICON BALI Mall at Jalan Danau Tamblingan No. 27. It is the second location of a Cantonese restaurant in Bali that began on Jalan Dewi Sita in Ubud, bringing the same approach to Chinese dining to this side of the island, with one significant addition.
Where to Find Us
ICON BALI Mall sits on Jalan Danau Tamblingan, one of the main roads through Sanur and home to many of the area’s hotels, restaurants and shops.
That location is convenient for guests staying nearby. Many hotels are along Jalan Danau Tamblingan or on the surrounding streets, putting dinner within walking distance for several visitors.
The mall is also close to the beachfront promenade, so an evening here can easily follow a walk along the water.
What the Kitchen Covers
Cantonese cooking places a strong emphasis on fresh ingredients, careful cooking and balanced seasoning. At Golden Monkey, that approach appears across the dim sum, Chinese BBQ and wider Cantonese menu.
The dim sum is handmade and includes both steamed and fried selections. Har Gow are prawn dumplings with delicate wrappers. Xiao Long Bao are Shanghai-style soup dumplings filled with pork and broth, while Siu Mai combine pork and prawn in an open-topped dumpling. They make an easy lunch or a shared first course alongside a pot of jasmine tea.
The Chinese BBQ selection is where the kitchen shows its range. Char Siew Pork is honey-roasted pork belly with a sweet, savoury glaze. Crispy Pork Belly pairs tender meat with crisp skin and a hoisin dipping sauce. The BBQ Combination brings Char Siew Chicken, Crispy Pork Belly and Roasted Duck together on one plate, making it a practical choice for a table that wants to try several BBQ favourites.

The Sanur Difference
Hot pot is the addition that sets the Sanur location apart.
You select a soup base, then build the meal around it. The Chicken & Pork Collagen broth offers a rich, savoury base, while the Golden Monkey Signature Spicy Mala Soup brings chilli heat and the numbing quality associated with mala cooking. A Double Soup option lets the table have both.
From there, you add sliced meats, seafood, meatballs, vegetables and tofu, then cook everything in the broth at the table. It suits groups particularly well and gives the meal a more leisurely, communal rhythm.
Hot pot is exclusive to the Sanur location, making it one of the main reasons to choose this branch if you are deciding between Golden Monkey in Ubud and Sanur.
Eating Around Dietary Requirements
Chinese food in Sanur should work for everybody at the table, and a few notes make that easier.
Stir-fried greens come with a choice of garlic sauce or oyster sauce. Request the garlic sauce if you require a fully vegetarian dish, as oyster sauce is not suitable for all vegetarian diets.

Planning the Evening
The Sanur branch opens daily from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with last orders at 9:30 PM. That makes it an option for both lunch and dinner, whether you are planning a midday dim sum meal or a longer evening around the hot pot.
